Tilt/Motion Sensor Touts Tiny Footprint And Low Price

Claiming to be the industry's smallest and least expensive micromachined tilt and motion sensor, the ADXL202E measures only 5 mm x 5 mm x 2 mm in chip-scale packaging. The device features the company's integrated microelectromechanical systems (iMEMS) technology that combines moving microscopic silicon parts and signal conditioning on a single chip. The sensor is said to provide a low-power, low-cost accurate method of measuring tilt, shock and vibration. The device features low power, 250 µA per axis, and low voltage, down to 2.7V, operation. It is a complete two-access accelerometer with a digital output on a single monolithic chip. Pricing starts at $4.99 each/100,000.
