Transformers Serve Gigabit Ethernet Apps

Designed to interface with transceivers requiring 1:1 turns ratio, this three-module family of Gigabit 1000Base-T transformers includes the M8, M9 and P3 devices and provides voltage isolation and impedance matching for maximum power transfer in Gigabit Ethernet routers, switches, hubs, repeaters, servers and network interface cards. The P3 module affords greater noise suppression with an added auto transformer to support termination of the unused twisted pair. The devices comply with IEEE 802.3ab standards and are backward compatible with existing 10/100-Mbps Ethernet designs. Engineered for full duplex applications, each magnetic component supports four pairs of Category 5 unshielded twisted pair cabling.
