USB Dual Switch With Integrated LDO Claimed As Industry First

Nov. 1, 2001

The TPS2145 family of products is said to be the first to combine 3.3-V low-dropout (LDO) regulators and dual power switches in a single chip for use in USB and portable applications. The devices provide 3.3V regulated output from a 5V input with 200 mA of continuous current for USB controllers and other circuitry. An adjustable LDO option with 1 to 3.3V output from a 2.9 to 5.5V input is available for use in portable systems. The LDO-switch combos provide a complete power management solution for USB bus-powered hub and peripheral products, the company says. Pricing for the TPS145 is $1.08 each/1,000.
