Web-Based Tool Serves As Power Supply Design Lab

This Web-based design tool, available free to registered users, promises development of more robust power system designs while shortening design cycles. Found at, SimScope enables users to select various of the firm’s power products, configure input and output circuitry, and set up test parameters and then view voltage and current waveforms at any point in the application. The tool executes a complete simulation pulse-by-pulse and allows changes to be made to external (system-level) parameters, including input impedance and capacitance, output filtering, input voltage, and output loading (step and slew rate). The tool’s test results have been verified against hardware, reportedly with impressive correlation. SimScope is the first in a collection of Web-based design tools called Virtual PowerLab to be developed by the firm. It requires a Java-enabled browser.
