Here's this week's roundup of some notable new products that have grabbed our attention; we hope they'll grab yours, too.

Data Storage Module Takes Advantage of NVMe Technology for Fast Data Processing

Mercury Systems’ EnsembleSeries SCM6010 OpenVPX data storage module features the non-volatile memory express (NVMe) M.2 commercial technology designed for high-speed, low-latency performance. The SCM6010’s removable storage canisters allow users to quickly replace the storage for rapid mission updates, removal of sensitive material and refreshes.

What’s more, the storage modules are available with modified-off-the-shelf-plus (MOTS+) rugged packaging for operation in harsh environments. The EnsembleSeries SCM6010 offers up to 24 Tb of high-speed storage, 48 x PCIe Gen3 low-latency, high-bandwidth read/write lanes, and a removable storage canister for mission refreshes with minimal downtime. It’s also OpenVPX (VITA 65) compliant with embedded system management and monitoring and can be equipped with an optional MOTS+ rugged packaging for extreme environmental protection.

Software Tool Displays Run Time Variables in Real Time

STMicroelectronics' STM32CubeMonitor software tool displays runtime variables of STM32 applications in real-time, allowing developers to customize the graphical visualization using Windows, Linux or MacOS. The app offers an extensive set of features that simplify access to valuable insights, including a graphical flow editor that allows users to drag and drop items and features to build custom dashboards.

Users can also quickly add widgets such as gauges, bar graphs, and plots without the need for programming. By utilizing Node-RED, STM32CubeMonitor can be coupled with a wide choice of extensions to address a wide diversity of application types.

The app provides two function modes to best suit user’s needs. These include a Design mode that allows users to create and edit monitoring interfaces for specific applications and an Operator mode, which supports the deployment of pre-built user interfaces with vivid demonstrations and field testing.

Protection Switches Block any Reverse Current under Fault Conditions

Alpha and Omega Semiconductor recently announced new Type-C Power Delivery high voltage sink protection switches that utilize ideal diode methodology for reverse current protection. The AOZ13984DI-02 and AOZ13987DI-02 feature low RDS(ON) (20 mohm) back-to-back MOSFETs that block any reverse current under fault conditions and are capable of up to 28 V absolute maximum voltage.

The switches feature a voltage operating range from 3.4 V to 23 V, have a maximum rating of 28 V, and have an On resistance of 20mΩ (AOZ13987DI-02) and 33mΩ (AOZ13984DI-02) back-to-back MOSFETs. They also provide a host of protections, including ideal diode true reverse current blocking, under-voltage lock-out, over-voltage protection, thermal shutdown protection, programmable soft-start, and startup SOA management.

Optical Transceiver Designed for Industry 4.0 Vision Applications

Yokowo recently launched its miniature multimode fiber optic transceiver designed to simplify Industry 4.0 vision applications. The Yokowo Type-B optical transceiver measures just 1/3 of other transceivers in its class and can efficiently be designed into space-constrained applications. The Type-B offers data transmission speeds ranging from 50 Mbps to 12.5 Gbps and provides a signal format of NRZ-PRBS231-1, making it ideal for machine vision applications.

The optical transceiver also offers a low power consumption of 150 mW, reducing heat generation and simplifying cooling system requirements. The transceiver can also operate in a temperature range of -40℃ to 85℃ and is compatible with LC connectors, allowing them to utilize LC optical cables.

SiC Diodes Designed for Applications that Require Efficiency and Thermal management

Littelfuse recently announced the expansion of its silicon carbide (SiC) diodes portfolio with the LSIC2SD170Bxx series of SiC Schottky diodes. The diodes are available in a TO-247-2L package with several current ratings (10A, 25A, or 50A). They also provide electronics system designers with various performance advantages, including close-to-zero reverse recovery current, high surge capability, and a maximum operating junction temperature of 175°C.

Moreover, the SiC Schottky barrier diodes are ideal for a wide range of AC/DC and DC/DC power converters for industry, energy generation, and energy distribution/storage. These include industrial switch-mode power supplies, battery chargers, solar inverters, high-speed rectifiers and more.
