Aug. 16, 2010
The MAX98400 filter-less Class D amplifiers are available in 2 x 12W, 2 x 20W, and 1 x 40W configurations, each integrating anti-clipping and voltage-limiting circuitry.

The MAX98400 filter-less Class D amplifiers are available in 2 x 12W, 2 x 20W, and 1 x 40W configurations, each integrating anti-clipping and voltage-limiting circuitry. A pin-selectable mono/stereo mode changes the MAX98400A from 20W stereo to 40W mono while the MAX98400B is a stereo 12W amp. Both include thermal foldback, which reduces output signal when junction temperature exceeds +120°C. Other shared features include short-circuit and thermal-overload protection, click-and-pop suppression, and shutdown control. Prices for the MAX98400A and MAX98400B are $1.20 and $0.95 each/1,000, respectively. MAXIM INTEGRATED PRODUCTS, Sunnyvale, CA. (800) 998-8800.
