Boasting of the industry's best dynamic performance, the MAX5195 14-bit, 260-Msample/s D/A converter targets applications such as broadband multicarrier communications, direct intermediate-frequency (IF) synthesis, automated test equipment (ATE), and instrumentation. The device operates from baseband to an IF of 100MHz and greater. At a 1-MHz output frequency, SFDR is 88 dBc at an amplitude of -12 dB and a sampling frequency of 156 MHz. At an IF of 130 MHz, the SFDR is 68 dBc at an amplitude of -12 dB and a sampling frequency of 260 MHz. Other performance specifications include an IMD of -87 dBc at an output frequency of 32 MHz and a noise performance of 160 dB/Hz at an output frequency of 19 MHz. The new DAC comes in a 48-pin QFN package with exposed paddle specified for the industrial temperature range of -40°C to 85°C and has a starting price of $34.50 each/1000. An evaluation kit is also available. MAXIM INTEGRATED PRODUCTS, Sunnyvale, CA. (800) 998-8800.
