Gain Blocks Eye Wide Range Of Wireless Apps

March 11, 2010
the AVT-51663 and AVT-53663 general-purpose, InGaP hetero-junction bipolar transistor (HBT) MMIC gain block amplifiers operate within the DC to 6 GHz frequency band and can be used as either a broadband gain block or driver amplifier

Set for use in WiMAX, wireless base station, satellite TV, and set-top box designs, the AVT-51663 and AVT-53663 general-purpose, InGaP hetero-junction bipolar transistor (HBT) MMIC gain block amplifiers operate within the DC to 6 GHz frequency band and can be used as either a broadband gain block or driver amplifier. Both are internally matched to 50? and are designed with a Darlington configuration housed in an industry standard six-lead, surface-mount SOT-363 plastic package. Additionally, no additional RF matching components are required to achieve broadband performance. At a typical operating condition of 5V and 37 mA, the AVT-51663 delivers a 19-dB gain, 24-dBm OIP3, and a 12.5-dBm output power at 1-dB gain compression (P1dBm) and a 3.2-dBm noise figure at 2 GHz. The AVT-53663 operates at 5V and 48 mA to deliver a 19.5-dB gain, 5-dBm OIP3, 15-dBm P1dB, and a 3.2-dB noise figure at 2 GHz. Prices for the AVT-51663 and AVT-53663 start from $0.31 and $0.33 each/10,000, respectively. AVAGO TECHNOLOGIES, San Jose, CA. (800) 235-0312.
