One-Eighth Brick DC-DC Converters Keep Their Cool At Full Power

April 26, 2006
PowerOne's EMS series provides full power at 70°C with 200 LFM cooling for 5-VOUT full-power operation with either 24 or 48 VIN.

Power-One has introduced a series of 1/8th-brick dc-dc converters with an 18- to 60-V input range that facilitate operation from 24 and 48 V.

The EMS series provides full power at 70°C with 200 LFM cooling for 5-VOUT full-power operation with either 24 or 48 VIN. Two single-output models deliver 3.3 V at 15 A, and 5 V at 10 A from an 18- to 60-V input range. According to Power-One, efficiencies for the series exceed 90%.

EMS Series converters incorporate 0.43-inch (10.8-mm) heights and industry-standard 2.3- by 0.9-inch (58.4- by 22.9-mm) footprints. They are RoHS-compliant, have 1500-V dc input-to-output isolation, start up into highly capacitive loads, and have low conducted and radiated EMI.

Converter interfaces include remote on/off, remote output-voltage sensing, and industry-standard output trim. They also include protection from overvoltage, undervoltage, overcurrent, and overtemperature.

AVAILABILITY
The EMS Series dc-dc converters are now available. Production quantities are typically available in six to eight weeks. PRICING
Pricing is $36 each in quantities of 1000. Samples are usually available from stock. FOR MORE INFORMATION
