Op Amp Delivers 2.5-GHz Bandwidth

Dec. 1, 2003
Representing a second generation device based on the BiCom-III complementary bipolar silicon-germanium process, the THS4304 operational amplifier has a unity-gain bandwidth of 2.5 GHz, noise figure of 2.4 nV/VHz, and better than -70 dBc THD at 32 MHz

Representing a second generation device based on the BiCom-III complementary bipolar silicon-germanium process, the THS4304 operational amplifier has a unity-gain bandwidth of 2.5 GHz, noise figure of 2.4 nV/VHz, and better than -70 dBc THD at 32 MHz (2 Vp-p into a 100 ohms load). The device operates from a 3V to 5V supply, as opposed to the 10V required by previous generation parts. Other features include a slew rate of 800 V/µs, settling time of 6 ns to 0.1% with a 1V step, and a third-order output intercept point of +27 dBm at 70 MHz while consuming 90 mW of quiescent power. THS4304 is sampling now, with volume production scheduled for the first quarter of 2004. It is available in 5-pin SOT-23 (DBV) and 8-pin SOIC (D) and MSOP (DGK) packages.
