Providing users with digital control over the analog domain, the MCP6S2x family of programmable gain amplifiers (PGAs) integrates an amplifier, MUX and gain control accessible via a SPI bus. Programming over the SPI bus allows users to control gain and input channel selection. Available with one, two, six and eight input channels, the devices provide eight gain steps of 1, 2, 4, 5, 8, 10, 16 and 32 V/V with an amplifier bandwidth of 2 to 12 MHz. The PGAs operate from supply voltages of 2.5V to 5.5V and at temperatures from -40°C to 125°C. Other features include a noise figure of 10 nV/rtHz, an offset voltage of 150 µV, a TDH+N of 0.0012%, and a settling time of 200 ns. Available in a variety of packages, prices range from $0.84 to $1.76 each/1,000. MICROCHIP TECHNOLOGY INC., Chandler, AZ. (480) 792-7668.
