The 1:2 MAX4885E variable gain amplifier (VGA) multiplexer from Maxim Integrated Products switches between two VGA ports while maintaining a 6-pF (typical) on-capacitance and 5-Ω (typical) on resistance for higher-bandwidth applications up to 1 GHz. According to the company, it is the only switch that offers a complete VGA solution for switching and translating R, G, B, DDC, and H/V signals.

Also, Maxim says the MAX4885E delivers twice the bandwidth of any existing solution as well as extended ±15-kV (Human Body Model) and ±8-kV (contact discharge) electrostatic discharge (ESD) protection. Its advanced integration reduces design time, saves board space, and minimizes cost, suiting notebook PCs, servers, and consumer video applications, according to the company. It operates from a single 2.0- to 5.0-V supply and is fully specified from –40°C to 85°C.

The MAX4885E comes in an industry-standard, 4- by 4-mm, 24-pin, thin quad flat no-lead (TQFN) package. Pricing starts at $1.50 in quantities of 1000 and up.
