Survey Reveals Scale Of Cloud Hacking

London, England and San Mateo, Calif.: A survey of 100 of the IT professionals attending this year’s DEF CON 2010 Hacker conference in Las Vegas revealed that hackers believe the cloud has a silver lining for them.

A total of 96% of the respondents to the Fortify Software-sponsored poll said they believed the cloud would open up more hacking opportunities. Hackers believe that cloud vendors aren’t doing enough to address the security of their services.

Breaking down the survey responses, 21% believe that software-as-a-service (SaaS) cloud systems are the most vulnerable, with 33% of the hackers having discovered public DNS vulnerabilities, followed by log files (16%) and communication profiles (12%) in their cloud travels.
