Targeted for use in a wide range of audio products, including PC multimedia, automotive audio, PA and mini/micro hi-fi systems, the ZXCD1000 Class D audio amplifier boasts of an efficiency exceeding 90%, allowing the switching amplifier controller to be housed in a compact, QSOP-16 package and to reportedly generate much less heat than comparable Class A/B linear amplifiers, which typically have efficiencies of only 65%. The higher efficiency also translates into smaller power supply requirements. The audio amp also features a typcial THD+N of 0.2% open loop or less than 0.1% with a 10 dB feedback loop. And depending on the output filter network used, the ZXCD1000 is said to provide true hi-fi performance at an output power of 25W or 50W. The amp can drive either a 4 ohm or 8 ohm load. Price is $1.50 each/1,000, with samples and start-up quantities available from stock. A reference design is also available.
