Competitors vie for $10M X PRIZE

More than 60 teams have signed up to compete for the $10 million X PRIZE (www.xprize.org) now sponsored by Progressive Insurance (www.progressive.com).

More than 60 teams have signed up to compete for the $10 million X PRIZE now sponsored by Progressive Insurance. The teams will seek to design, build, and bring to market vehicles capable of 100 miles-per-gallon energy equivalent that also meet price, size, capability, safety, and performance goals. The window for applications will be open until mid-year. Teams that make the cut will race their vehicles in 2009 and 2010.
