Dollar Thrifty Automotive Group (www.dtag.com) said Dollar Rent A Car (www.dollar.com) and Thrifty Car Rental (www.thrifty.com) will offer the Garmin nuvi 660 (www.garmin.com) at approximately 90 locations in the U.S. for $11.99 per-day, subject to availability.

Dollar Thrifty Automotive Group said Dollar Rent A Car and Thrifty Car Rental will offer the Garmin nuvi 660 at approximately 90 locations in the United States for $11.99 per day, subject to availability.

The portable nuvi 660 features a large 4.3-inch color touch-screen interface, voice-prompted turn-by-turn directions, Bluetooth capability and FM transmitter. It will allow Dollar and Thrifty customers to access traffic information, including accident and construction delays, from an ever-expanding database of cities across the United States. The integrated FM transmitter can broadcast voice-prompted driving directions, MP3, audio books and phone calls over the car's speakers. Using the unit's Bluetooth capabilities and a compatible mobile phone, users can also take advantage of hands-free calling.

Dollar Thrifty spokesman Jason Logan noted that the firm also offers the Garmin StreetPilot c330. He said Dollar Thrifty evaluated a number of different units before selecting the nuvi 660 “because of the wider screen and other useful features like the FM transmitter.” He adds that both units have been popular with business and leisure travelers alike.
