Hella KGaA Hueck & Co. (www.hella.com), NEC Electronics (www.necel.com) and 3SOFT (www.3soft.de) are collaborating with Volkswagen to develop a body/comfort electronic control unit (ECU) for future Volkswagen vehicles.

Hella KGaA Hueck & Co., NEC Electronics and 3SOFT are collaborating with Volkswagen to develop a body/comfort electronic control unit (ECU) for future Volkswagen vehicles. The ECU will be compatible with AUTOSAR (AUTomotive Open System ARchitecture) software.

During the next year the partners plan to test the new jECU in a VW Passat limousine to see how it will behave in real-world conditions, while also working on software integration, resource use, quality and cost issues. Hella will supply ECU hardware and software applications for the project while acting as the software integrator. NEC Electronics will provide the ECU's V-850 series microcontroller and 3SOFT will provide the AUTOSAR platform. Volkswagen will then integrate its own vehicle software modules with the ECU.
