The nonprofit X Prize Foundation that spurred the development of private spacecraft is announcing draft guidelines for a contest to create "super-efficient vehicles" that exceed 100 miles per-gallon or its equivalent.

The nonprofit X Prize Foundation that spurred the development of private spacecraft is announcing draft guidelines for a contest to create "super-efficient vehicles" that exceed 100 miles per-gallon or its equivalent. The multimillion-dollar prize will be given to a "production-capable" vehicle built by a major auto company or by “innovators.” The project will launch officially later this year.
