ZAP readies electric crossover SUV

Electric car developer ZAP (www.zapworld.com) is developing a crossover sport utility vehicle, ZAP-X, concept drawings of which are posted on the firm’s web site. The compact-SUV design will feature all-wheel drive with in-hub electric motors capable delivering 644 horsepower and a top speed of 155mph. With a lightweight aluminum chassis, a new drive system and a battery management system, the ZAP-X is expected to achieve a 350-mile range with a 10-minute recharging time.
