ZAP readies electric crossover SUV
Electric car developer ZAP is developing a crossover sport utility vehicle, ZAP-X, concept drawings of which are posted on the company's web site. The compact-SUV design will feature all-wheel drive with in-hub electric motors capable of delivering 644 horsepower and a top speed of 155 mph. With a lightweight aluminum chassis, a new drive system and a battery management system, the ZAP-X is expected to achieve a 350-mile range with a 10-minute recharging time.
