Engineering on Friday ‘toon: The Meowplifier v1.0
It’s something I wanted to make for real. My cat’s meows are so tiny and cute sometimes, I thought it would be wonderful to amplify them super loud. The Meowplifier collar is going to be real someday. It must!
I thought it would be fun to just draw a project mockup. Block diagram with a cat in it, if you will. Maybe I can’t really make it right now, but I can draw it.
As engineers, I feel we all have so many projects we want to do at any one time that it causes “project paralysis.” Too many ideas, too little time. Or maybe there’s too little funding. I think that’s my particular problem. Take a look at any of my Halloween projects. Some of those broke the bank.
I drew this from start to finish.
No AI involved.
Some people asked me how long it takes to draw something like this. For this one, it took me about 4 hours. I’m not the fastest drawer in the world. I wish I were faster, honestly. Every new drawing, I get a little better.
In this particular cartoon, I was experimenting with coloring differently. Layers, detail, rendering was the focus. I’m trying to get better at it, instead of just paint-bucketing solid color everywhere. I’ll get there. 😊
I would LOVE to see my cat, Laser, react to a sound-amplifying collar. Maybe I need… no… we all need a “gofundme” approach to project building. Pitch cool ideas, get backers to help you out. Hmmm.
Anyone, beside me, want to see this project come to life? Chime in, in the comments below.
Missed the last cartoon? Check it out here. I become MJ every time I hit the frozen aisle.
