A method and system for regulating the rotational speed of a rotor on a wind energy unit with a generator and a rotor blade., in which the first set parameter is a pitch angle of the rotor blade and the second set parameter is the torque of the generator. The system comprises a pitch-angle control or regulation device, a torque control or regulation device, a first device for determination of a first rotational speed set value and a second device for determination of a second rotational speed set value. The first rotational speed set value may be supplied to the pitch-angle control or regulation device and the second rotational speed set value may be supplied to the torque control or regulation device, wherein the first and second rotational speed set value may be different from each other.

CURRENT SENSOR DEVICE

A current sensor senses current at a sense transistor and generates an accurate proportional representation of that current. The sensed current is relatively independent of the resistive load of the feedback path at the feedback control module (FCM) to which it is applied. In one embodiment, the FCM uses the sensed current in a dc-dc voltage converter to regulate a voltage. The current sensor uses a pair of op-amps to match a voltage at a current electrode of a transistor that generates the output current to a voltage at a current electrode of the sense transistor, such that an effective resistance of the transistor generating the output current is significantly higher than the resistive load of the FCM, ensuring that the output current is relatively independent of the resistive load of the FCM.

LCO-BASED SMPS RESPONSE EVALUATION

A limit-cycle-oscillation (LCO)-based SMPS response evaluation determines the characteristic response of an SMPS during normal operation. LCOs are induced in the SMPS loop by introducing a non-linearity in the loop; for example, decreasing the resolution of a pulse-width modulator that controls the SMPS switching circuit. The frequency and amplitude of the LCOs are determined and used to evaluate the characteristic response of the SMPS. To produce symmetric LCOs, which are more easily modeled, a zero-offset calibration circuit adjusts values provided to the pulse-width modulator so that each value introduced during calibration is at the midpoint of a resolution cell.

CORELESS CURRENT SENSOR

Coreless current sensor comprises two parallel conductors carrying equal currents in the same direction. The magnetic field in mid-location of the two parallel conductors carrying equal currents in the same direction for all current magnitudes is zero in absence of an external magnetic interference. Sum of magnetic fields in two points equidistant from the mid location on both the sides is zero as magnetic fields at these points are equal in magnitude and opposite in polarity for all current magnitudes and for equal amount of current flowing through both conductors in the same direction in absence of an external magnetic interference. Two sensing elements can be arranged between the two parallel conductors for sensing the magnetic field due to currents flowing through them for the purpose of current measurement.

He has 18 years experience in electronic engineering design and management, six years in public relations and 25 years as a trade press editor. He holds a BSEE from Case-Western Reserve University, and did graduate work at the same school and UCLA. Sam was the editor for PCIM, the predecessor to Power Electronics Technology, from 1984 to 2004. His engineering experience includes circuit and system design for Litton Systems, Bunker-Ramo, Rocketdyne, and Clevite Corporation..
