Four additions to the MB90800 series MCUs are designed specifically for controlling LCD panels that display large segment counts. The MCUs can drive LCD segments with up to 192 discrete elements or 27 numerical digits. The four devices include the MB90F804-101 and MB90F804-201 with 16 KB of RAM and 256 KB of flash memory and the MB90803 and MB90803S, which provide 4 KB of RAM and 128 KB of ROM. Each device operates at 25 MHz from a 3V to 3.6V supply and delivers a minimum instruction execution time of 40 ns at frequencies of 6.25 MHz external or 25 MHz internal. Their integrated LCD controller supports 48 segments x 4 character lines for a maximum of 192 segments and includes a two-channel UART, two-channel serial I/O interface, and a single-channel I2C interface. Other common features include a 12-channel a/d converter and a variety of timers and standby modes. Available in 100-pin plastic quad flat packs, prices for the MB90F804-101 and MB90F804-201 start at $12.31 each/10,000 and the MB90803 and MB90803S start at $5.76 each/50,000.
