Speed Controllers Drive AC Motors

Oct. 8, 2008
The Pacesetter models 2994 and 2998 three-phase ac-motor speed controls drive 230 Vac, 50 Hz or 60 Hz, inverter-duty, three-phase gearmotors and motors ranging from 1/8 HP to 1 HP (746W). Both controls operate from a single-phase 115 Vac or 208/230

The Pacesetter models 2994 and 2998 three-phase ac-motor speed controls drive 230 Vac, 50 Hz or 60 Hz, inverter-duty, three-phase gearmotors and motors ranging from 1/8 HP to 1 HP (746W). Both controls operate from a single-phase 115 Vac or 208/230 Vac line voltage. The model 2994 resides in a NEMA-4X/IP-65 rated enclosure and the model 2998 comes in a NEMA-1/IP-40 enclosure for more basic environmental protection. The model 2994 features a multifunction keypad for programming and a four-digit LED display provides information about the control including frequency, voltage, motor current, or motor speed. Six LED indicators display control status and operating mode. The model 2994 also features an on/off switch and speed potentiometer on the front panel. Protection features include RMS current limit, short circuit, and ac inrush at startup, plus integrated sensors shut down the control if the ac-line input voltage goes above or below the operating range. For applications requiring fewer features, the lower cost model 2998 NEMA-1/IP-40 speed control requires no programming. Horsepower, ac-line input voltage, and output frequency are jumper selectable and protection features are identical to the model 2994. BODINE ELECTRIC CO., Chicago, IL. (800) 726-3463.
