Designers of point-of-sale (POS) systems, office equipment, information terminals, and other similar display-containing products are said to have in a family of vacuum fluorescent displays (VFDs) a viable alternative to the LCDs or LEDs presently useD. In these applications, the new VFDs, called LCD Emulators, are said to offer improved brightness, readability and viewing angle.
Currently, LCD Emulators come in seven standard models in six configurations ranging from 1 row x 16 characters to 2 rows x 40 characters.
