WiMAX Test Options Enhance Handheld Base Station Tester

Oct. 26, 2006
The Fixed WiMAX RF Measurement and Fixed WIMAX Demodulation options for the Anritsu MT8222A handheld base station analyzer turn the instrument into a field solution for measuring WiMAX systems.

A pair of Fixed WiMAX (IEEE 802.16-2004) test options for the Anritsu MT8222A BTS Master turn the handheld base station analyzer into a field solution for measuring WiMAX. The Fixed WiMAX RF Measurement option allows the BTS Master to measure the transmitted signal strength and signal shape of the selected BTS transmission. The option includes familiar channel spectrum, power versus time, ACPR, and rf summary screens. The Fixed WiMAX Demodulation option analyzes OFDM signals and displays detailed measurements for evaluating transmitter modulation performance. The company's Master Software Tools can also be used with the Fixed WiMAX options. The comprehensive data management and analysis software allows users to create and download custom tests in the BTS Master.

The BTS Master combines the functionality of a cable and antenna analyzer, spectrum analyzer, power meter, interference analyzer, channel scanner, transmitter analyzer, bias tee, and T1 analyzer. In addition to Fixed WiMAX analysis, it can conduct WCDMA/HSDPA and GSM/GPRS/EDGE rf and demodulation, and WCDMA/HSDPA Over-the-Air (OTA) measurements.
