WLED Driver Packs Five Outputs And Two LDOs

Oct. 8, 2008
In a 3 mm x 3 mm QFN package operating down to 2.7V, the LTC3230 white LED driver integrates dual 200-mA LDO regulators for driving main and secondary displays and delivers up to five 25-mA current sources, providing 125 mA of total output current.

In a 3 mm x 3 mm QFN package operating down to 2.7V, the LTC3230 white LED driver integrates dual 200-mA LDO regulators for driving main and secondary displays and delivers up to five 25-mA current sources, providing 125 mA of total output current. The two LDOs with separate enables provide pin-selectable output voltages as low as 1.2V and 1.8V, respectively. Input voltage ranges from 2.7V to 5.5V and efficiencies, when the device teams with a li-ion battery, reach 91% with a quiescent current of 400 µA. Additionally, the chip employs a 900-kHz, multi-mode 1x/1.5x/2x charge pump that automatically optimizes efficiency based on input voltage and forward-voltage conditions. Price is $1.55 each/1,000.
