Standard two-chip designs can be replaced by the single-chip AFE2124, a dual analog front end IC for HDSL applications. The device offers low power dissipation of 250 mW/phannel and is optimized for HDSL, which is the most widely used DSL technology. In applications such as T1/E1 data transfer services, as well as local-area-network extenders and Internet servers, the IC provides all the analog circuitry, including drivers, needed to connect two HDSL DSPs to line transformers. Each half of the dual IC consists of a transmit and receive section. Operation is from a single 5V supply.
