New levels of visual quality are promised for 3D graphics products using a new intellectual property (IP) core called GP-1. Through use of full-scene anti-aliasing and an innovative 3D graphic image rendering technology called Giga3D, the core is said to bring 3Dvisuals previously only available from high-end workstations to mainstream PCs. GP-1’s Giga3D-based architecture is said to eliminate the jerky motion and jagged edges associated with conventional technologies and to process only the polygons the user will see on screen, thereby reducing memory bandwidth requirements by up to 10 times versus existing solutions. The core is compatible with Direct 3D and OpenGL, provides 32-bit color rendering, is independent of memory type, and much more.
