These new low-voltage, pulse-width-modulated (PWM) synchronous dc/dc controllers combine space savings, low input and output voltages, and power efficiency. Used for DSP and µP cores, supervisory circuits, ASICs, FPGAs, and other low-voltage

These new low-voltage, pulse-width-modulated (PWM) synchronous dc/dc controllers combine space savings, low input and output voltages, and power efficiency. Used for DSP and µP cores, supervisory circuits, ASICs, FPGAs, and other low-voltage logic in advanced systems, the TPS4000x controllers achieve overall efficiencies greater than 95%. The controllers use Predictive Gate Drive technology to achieve high efficiency in rectifier control applications by driving MOSFET power transistors at 2% to 4% greater efficiency than conventional adaptive gate drive technology. Two internally fixed operating frequencies of 300 and 600 kHz are available, as well as source and sink options. The TPS4000x devices come in a small-form-factor 10-pin MSOP PowerPad package with thermal protection and output voltages down to 0.7V with a precision reference of 1%. The controllers step-down input voltages ranging from 2.25V to 5.5V and are capable of driving both upper and lower N-channel MOSFET output transistors. Price: $1.44 each/10K.
