Available in 1-axis and 2-, 3-, and 4-axes versions, the Magellan family of motion processors incorporate real-time servo trace capture, which improves servo-tuning performance, optimizes motion trajectories, and captures time-sensitive data. The trace feature allows up to four motion variables to be stored at the same time, and each variable can be either 16 or 32 bits in size. Up to 28 distinct parameters are available for trace, such as position, velocity, acceleration, and servo lag. The capture trigger for the trace feature is programmable and supports a variety of conditions including motion start or external signal change. Other processor features include a programmable PID filter with velocity and acceleration feed forward, 32-bit position error, dual bi-quad filters, 50 µs loop time, and multi-axis synchronization. Available in 144- and 100-pin TQFPs, prices start at $24 for single axis and $44 for multi-axes configurations in OEM quantities. PERFORMANCE MOTION DEVICES INC., Lincoln, MA. (781) 674-9860.
