Integrating debounce circuitry and ±15 kV of ESD protection, the MAX16054 pushbutton on/off controller features state memory that causes the output state to latch after the switch is released/opened, thereby allowing normally-open switches to act as on/off switches. Enabling simpler switches with on/off capability, the device suits handheld devices, portable electronics, set-top boxes, portable instrumentation, and white goods. Its debounce circuitry allows the device to accept a noisy input from a mechanical switch and produce a clean, latched digital output signal. This increases reliability and reduces design time compared to alternate solutions. The input employs over-voltage clamping diodes that allow for voltage swings of ±25V to ground. Available in a six-pin thin-SOT23 package, the MAX16054 consumes 7 ?A of quiescent current and operates over a temperature range from -40?C to +125?C. MAXIM INTEGRATED PRODUCTS, Sunnyvale, CA.
