The integration of the RTXC real-time kernel with Motorola’s modular architecture brings royalty-free, real-time multitasking kernel technology into the arena of embedded DSP56300 applications. The real-time kernel supports the DSP56303/307/309EVM processors and incorporates a mix of peripherals, memories and coprocessors to offer designers a significant performance advantage in embedded applications. Kernel service times are said to be under 5 µs. The kernel is supported by Motorola’s Suite56 software development tools, including a processor simulator, C compiler, assembler, linker and hardware debugger. The RTXC kernel offers a small code footprint of about 1500 to 4500 words, support for nested interrupts, and much more.
