Emerging as the industry's smallest power measurement ICs for cellular handsets, the ADL5500 power detector and AD8311 power controller come in packages measuring 0.6 mm thick and employ a precision circuit design to accurately measure and control transmitter output signals independent of temperature variations. The 1 mm x 1 mm ADL5500 RMS-power detector is optimized for CDMA, CDMA2000 (including 1xEV-DO), TD-SCDMA, W-CDMA, and terminal devices for 802.16, WiMAX. It features an accuracy of ±0.25 dB linear response up to 2.5 GHz and a temperature stability of 0.1 dB variation over a temperature range from -40°C to +85°C. The device operates from a single supply from 2.7V to 5.5V and consumes 3.3 mW at 3V. Measuring 1 mm x 1.5 mm, the AD8311 logarithmic power controller is designed for GSM/GPRS power amplifiers operating in the frequency range of 100 MHz to 2.5 GHz and over a typical dynamic range of 45 dB. The device consumes 8.5 mA from a 2.7V to 5.5V supply. Prices for the ADL5500 and AD8311 are $0.90 and $1.20 each/10,000, respectively. ANALOG DEVICES INC., Wilmington, MA. (800) 262-5643.
