The third-generation of SHARC processors support the latest audio decoders and post-processors, such as Dolby ProLogic IIx and Microsoft Windows Media 9 Audio Professional. They also provide enough on-chip memory to support studio-quality audio processing. With a maximum core instruction rate of 300 MHz, the 32-bit/40-bit floating point devices also support a range of high-resolution audio formats, including PCM 96 kHz, Dolby Digital, Dolby Digital EX, DTS Discrete 6.1, DTS-ES Matrix 6.1, DTS 96/24 5.1, DTS Neo:6, MPEG2, and MPEG2 AAC and SRS. Additionally, they can be pre-configured to support any of these audio algorithms in non-volatile memory. Said to be a first, the processors can integrate an all-digital S/PDIF, rx/tx interface and asynchronous sample rate converters. The ADSP-21266 targets AVR and automotive audio applications, while ADSP-21267 is a lower-power, lower-cost version. ADSP-21364 eyes professional audio markets and ADSP-21365 is designed for mid- and upper-level automotive applications. Prices range from $9.95 to $24.95 each/10K. ANALOG DEVICES INC., Norwood, MA.
