Groomed for automotive vision, video security, and video telephony markets, the DaVinci TMS320DM643x DSPs promise greater processing power at a lower price point. The processors deliver video performance up to H.264 video encode at D1 resolution and are 50% lower in cost compared to the company’s previous DSP media processors. Each of the four DaVinci devices feature a TMS320C64x+ core and operate between 300 MHz and 600 MHz. The DM6431, DM6435, and DM6437 include functions for automotive video applications, such as support for the CANbus. They also meet the AEC-Q100 automotive quality standard. Shared features of the four DSPs include 32 KB of L1P cache/SRAM, either 32 or 80 KB L1D and 64 or 128 KB L2 cache/SRAM, a 32-Bit DDR2 SDRAM controller, an asynchronous 8-bit wide EMIF (External Memory Interface), 10/100 Ethernet MAC, two UARTs, I2C, SPI, GPIO, McASP, and three PWMs. Samples are available now with volume production set for the second quarter of 2007. Prices range from $9.95 to $22.95 each/10,000. TEXAS INSTRUMENTS INC., Dallas, TX. (800) 477-8924.
