Automatic generation of fixed-point code for automotive production-type electronic control units (ECUs) is performed by the TargetLink software tool. It’s the last remaining link in a complete tool chain for all ECU development steps, from initial function design by simulation through rapid prototyping to final implementation.Benchmarks show that TargetLink code is equal or even superior to handwritten code in terms of execution time and memory consumption. This is the result of careful design and intelligent optimization steps built into the software, which include inter-block optimization. TargetLink code runs on every processor programmable with standard ANSI-C code.
