Dubbed the Stradivarius chip, the STLC1502 VoIP processor combines an ARM7TDMI RISC microcontroller core, a low-power D950 DSP, two 10/100 Base-T Ethernet ports, and on-chip SRAM and ROM memories. Using this device to design an IP phone, the only other parts required would be an analog interface, Fast Ethernet physical-layer devices, and optional flash memory for upgradeable software.Manufactured using high-speed, 0.25 ┬Ám CMOS technology, the device operates at 3.3V for I/O and 2.5V for the core. Other features include self-contained vocoder software and an Ethernet bridge with a dedicated buffer. Price is $17 each in quantities over 100,000.
