\[August 22, 2006\] To simplify the assembly of brushless dc motors common to industrial automation, the AEDB-9340 series 6-channel, optical incremental C-shaped encoder modules include a code wheel with an optical radius of 15 mm. At ±1° mechanical commutation, the modules claim a better switching accuracy than conventional Hall sensors. Operating from a 5V supply, they deliver a 2-channel quadrature rotary output with un-gated index pulse for position feedback, while 3-channel commutation outputs emulate Hall sensor feedback. Other features include up to 2,500 counts per revolution, a frequency response to 150 kHz, TTL compatibility, RoHS-compliance, and an operating temperature range from -10°C to +85ºC. Price is $29 each/1,000. AVAGO TECHNOLOGIES, Santa Clara, CA. (800) 235-0312.
