The MCP201 single-chip, local interconnect network (LIN) bus interface transceiver reduces component counts by integrating its own voltage regulator. Meeting the V1.2 LIN bus spec, the chip is configured with an industry standard pin assignment, making it a drop-in replacement for designs where LIN transceivers are already designed in. Offered in an eight-pin SOIC package, the integrated regulator delivers 5V ±5% with a maximum output current of 50 µA, or higher current values when using an external series pass transistor. The device supports a baud rate up to 20 kb/s and is available in an extended, -40°C to 125°C temperature range version. Other features include thermal and short-circuit protection, as well as protection against loss of ground and load dumps up to 40V. CPU, bus activity and local wake-up features are also included. Target applications include automotive sub-bus systems, such as interior and exterior mirror control, HVAC blower motors, and sensors. Price: $1.25 each/10K. MICROCHIP TECHNOLOGY INC., Chandler, AZ.
