Miniature Readhead Allows Custom-Fitting Of Linear Encoders

Designed for applications where a conventional enclosed readhead won't fit, the miniature RGH34 linear encoder readhead brings rugged, reliable, non-contact operation along with high-speed, high-resolution capabilities to size-sensitive applications, even in shop-floor conditions. The devices measures just 0.63" x 0.63" x 0.35" yet deliver operating speeds of up to 48 ft./sec. with resolutions as high as 0.2 micron. Precision linear motion applications include microstages, microscopes and ultra small linear actuators.
The readhead is engineered with an open, non-contact optical system that is said to eliminate fraction, hysteresis and wear, while permitting high-speed and high-resolution operation. It runs on 40-┬Ám pitch scales with 1.5-mm ride height and wide set-up tolerances. The filtering optics average reflections from multiple scale facets, ensuring excellent stability and accuracy even with contamination or minor damage to the scale. A tri-color LED gives continuous indication of signal strength. Call for price.
