Available in one-, two-, three-, and four-axis configurations, the Magellan PC/104 motion-controller card features trajectory generation, servo-loop closure, quadrature-signal input, motor-output-signal generation, performance tracing, on-the-fly changes, commutation, and more. It hosts dc-brush/brushless plus steppper motors, and communicates via a 16-bit parallel bus, CANbus, or serial port. Other features include S-curve, trapezoidal, and velocity contouring, electronic gearing, and user-generated profile modes. The card is programmable via C or C++. Users can send on-the-fly changes, and PLC-style, external-signal I/O breakpoints can be used to program automatic profile changes. Additionally, the controller delivers servo-loop rates up to 50 µs/axis, 5 Mcounts/s quadrature-encoder input rates, a trace capability up to 32 Kwords, and a pulse/direction output up to 5 Mpulses/s. Prices start at $540 each in OEM quantities. PERFORMANCE MOTION DEVICES INC., Lincoln, MA. (781) 674-9860.
