The Navigator MC2300 Series of processors is designed to provide positioning and velocity control of brushless servo motors and to support sinusoidal commutation of 2- or 3-phase brushless motors. The series consists of a 132-pin processor and a 100-pin logic device (both SMT packages and requiring 5V supplies), with the chipset permitting users to off-load motion control functions from the system's host processor. The firm's instruction set supports over 130 commands and provides designers with flexibility and versatility during application programming.MC2300 processors output commutation signals based on either Hall sensors or the motor's encoder. Two or three separate motor signals per axis are sent by the processors in 10-bit PWM- or 16-bit DAC-compatible formats. The processors' ability to directly output communation signals results in smoother motion control and stability with reduced torque ripple, oscillation, overshoot, and audible noise.
