A PC-based automation control module, the Expert I/O 1000, has a USB connection to simplify various types of automation, including testing, processing, and industrial machinery. The Expert I/O 1000 incorporates many I/O functions: 16 digital inputs, 16 digital outputs, 2 analog outputs (6 selectable ranges each), 6 analog inputs, and 2 brush DC motor controllers with integrated amplifiers. It also contains 2 kbytes of user-accessible nonvolatile memory. The entire module is housed in a compact 6.125” x 3.375” x 2.25” enclosure. The controller has a large digital I/O voltage range. Using only software, the digital I/O voltage can be set to any voltage between 3.3 V and 27 V. Software-configurable digital input pull resistors eliminate the need for external pull resistors. They can be configured as pull-ups or pull-downs, or can be completely disabled. Mounting the Expert I/O 1000 is simplified by its integrated DIN rail mounting mechanism. This feature allows the unit to remain stable on flat surfaces when not using DIN rail, making the module equally suitable for lab bench uses. All configuration and control is performed through a software API that’s provided in a DLL. DAJAC INC., Westfield, IN. (317) 608-0500.
