Amsterdam, Netherlands: The ADF55xx series of voltage-controlled oscillators (VCOs) from Analog Devices offers impressive phase-noise performance of –116 dBc/Hz at 100-kHz offset at 8 GHz, meeting the demanding requirements of applications such as microwave point-to-point (PtP) communications links.

Designed with gallium-arsenide (GaAs) monolithic microwave integrated-circuit (MMIC) technology, the ADF55xx VCOs use a push-push VCO architecture, which can generate the main output and the half-frequency output. The six devices in the series cover from 3.5 GHz to 13.9 GHz and offer a wide frequency tuning range.

The VCOs are packaged in a small, 32-lead, 5- by 5-mm lead-frame chip-scale package (LFCSP) and operate from either a 3-V or 5-V supply.
