A single-chip PRoC-UI from Cypress integrates a wireless radio with touch-sensing circuitry for wireless mice, trackpads, remote controls, presenter tools and other Human Interface Devices (HIDs). The integrated PRoC combines 2.4 GHz proprietary WirelessUSB-NL Radio with the company's CapSense and TrueTouch capacitive touch technologies. TrueTouch touchscreen technology enables multiple new HID use cases with multi-finger gesture recognition, including new Windows 8 and customized gestures. With a -87 dBm receive sensitivity at 1 Mbps, the chip enables operation up to 30 meters and allows for lower-power transmit signals. The device also features low active and standby currents to extend battery life, and boosts performance in the presence of 2.4-GHz interference from sources such as WiFi, Bluetooth, cordless phones and microwaves. PRoC-UI's support of the company's AgileHID protocol eases transition and allowing designers of existing WirelessUSB-NL designs to reuse the same dongles for new touch products. PRoC-UI is currently sampling in 40-QFN and 68-QFN packages with volume production expected in January 2013.
