MicroPower Direct designed a family of miniature, 3-W ac-dc power supplies specifically for space-critical board-level applications. Single-in-line packaging (SIP) is the catalyst for the devices’ small size. The low-cost MPL-03SE series feature five models that operate from a universal input of 85 to 264 V ac. Regulated single outputs are 5, 9, 12, 15, or 25 V dc. The EN 60950-approved supplies also can be used in high-voltage dc-dc applications with an input of 100 to 400 V dc. Features include tight line/load regulation, continuous short-circuit protection, 3000-V ac input/output isolation, and overtemperature protection. Their Class II input removes the need for an earth-ground connection, which is a key advantage for remote or portable equipment. MTBF extends beyond 300 khours. Operating temperature range is -40 to +85°C (ambient).
