2008 International CES, Las Vegas - Setting the storage bar higher, the E-Disk Altima E2A3GM SATA flash SSD in a 2.5" form factor provides what may the industry's highest storage capacity for such a drive at 832 GB. The SSD relies on multi-level cell (MLC) NAND flash memory, which doubles the number of bits stored per memory cell compared to single-level cell (SLC) NAND. It will also be using the company's EDSA and LUNETA controllers that allow the drive to reach peak data transfer and I/O rates comparable to current SLC flash drives. Additionally, the E2A3GM forecasts sustained data rates up to 100 MB/s and up to 20,000 I/O operations per second. For pricing, call BITMICRO, Fremont, CA. (510) 743-3475.
