Embedded developers are discovering the benefits of aspect-oriented programming. Java programmers using the Eclipse (www.eclipse.org) integrated development environment will now be able to take advantage of AspectJ, a Java implementation of aspect-oriented programming developed at Xerox PARC (Palo Alto Research Center). AspectJ builds on the Eclipse Java Development Tools (JDT) framework. AspectJ lets developers implement features like security enforcement. It can also implement features like system logging and error handling that cross the Java class hierarchy.
