The company's source level simulator and source level debugger for Motorola's ColdFire 32-bit microcontrollers now supports the latest MCF5407 chip as well as the series 2 and 3 ColdFire cores. The application claims to allow developers to create, build and debug their programs both with and without hardware. Totally integrated, the user-friendly environment is said to accelerate the development process and significantly reduce time to market. A parallel port background-debug-mode expands source level debugging capability to the hardware itself. The simulation and remote debugging environments are almost identical, eliminating the need for a new learning curve. The ANSI C compiler and relocatable cross assembler have also been extended to optionally take advantage of the MCF5407 enhancements.
