Where Is The Universal Device Driver?
By William Wong, Embedded/Systems/Software editor

In my lab, it's always device driver hell—I don't have two systems that are identical. This is quite different from most corporate environments but typical of most homes. Multiple device drivers are a headache to maintain, and they cause other problems as well...

Half-Duplex RS-485 Transceivers Measure Just 2 By 2 mm

The small footprints of the MAX13485E and MAX13486E half-duplex RS-485 transceivers suit them well for space-constrained applications such as motor control and mobile sensors. The devices measure only 2 by 2 mm, saving more than 50% of the board space needed by other transceivers.
